Move to Heal

It’s no secret that I’m pretty much an open book. However, when it comes to my mental health, this is probably the only thing in my life I’m not SUPER open about. Maybe this is self-stigma but I also don’t talk about it that much because I just really try not to let it define me. In helping to reduce that stigma though, I’ve started talking about it more. I recently discovered the Move to Heal Project and instantly knew that I wanted to get involved by sharing my story.

I can’t lie, it was hard to write about my own mental health journey, especially because this is still very much an ongoing challenge for me. While it took a lot for me to get it all out, the vulnerable process of writing about it and sharing it publicly has actually helped quite a bit. When my story first went up, I received an overwhelming amount of messages that day from people saying they could relate and they were happy I was able to share, making them feel less alone.

By telling our story we help others write and tell theirs. Each persons own narrative is woven from the stories of their experiences mixed with threads of the people around us. To be even a tiny positive thread in someone else’s narrative is what living is all about. If my story is able to help even one person, then it’s worth it to put myself out there. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; to inspire people to move and nourish their bodies in a way that makes them feel good is really what writing about my own journey is all about.

Give my piece a read here.

Have an amazing day all!
